BMW/MINIKey Ordering Process
Need a new or replacement key for your BMW/MINI? We can certainly help you with that with just a few steps.
First, We will need a couple of your vehicle registration. Not the title, but the registration you get from the county clerk's office when you get your tags every year.
Second, We will need a copy of your up-to-date driver’s license. This needs to match your registration (name, address, etc.)
Next, We order these keys directly from the BMW factory. They need copies of these items to ensure proper ownership of the vehicle before they continue with the process of making the new key.
At BMW, the keys are cut and coded specifically to your vehicle, meaning they will not work on any other BMW/MINI. For that reason, we require pre-payment of the key due to the fact that it cannot be returned or canceled once the order has been made.
Once BMW has the key order, they generally begin making the key within a half hour. It takes about 2-3 days to receive the key from BMW.
Lastly, some vehicles do require additional programming by the service dept. The parts dept can tell you before you order if your specific vehicle will need to be programmed.
